LUAS plays a vital role in public outreach at the Nightengale Archaeological Center (NAC), participates in events at the Upper Highland Lakes Nature Center, and conducts educational talks at community venues in Burnet and Llano Counties and beyond. Each LUAS member volunteer brings a unique set of skills and interests to the organization’s outreach and educational activities, helping to ensure a rich and rewarding experience for NAC visitors and local communities.
LUAS Volunteers conduct bi-monthly tours or open houses at the NAC, providing the public opportunities to learn about the prehistoric past of the Llano Uplift and Central Texas. These tours are held on the second and fourth Saturday of most months from 2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. LUAS has also coordinated educational activities and tours for a variety of organizations, including Texas Master Naturalists, City of Austin Parks & Recreation, public and private schools, and scouting groups.
See the Events Calendar for scheduled tours, open houses, and other LUAS events. Contact LUAS for more information about the organization’s public outreach and educational activities.
